Painted speed humps

Posted in: Bellemeade - Bellemeade

What good reason is there to spend money that you don't have to spend especially when it is not the commissioners' money - it came from everybody in Bellemeade.  Councilman Ackerson offered to have the speed humps painted without charge to us.  Larry Odom-Groh turned it down.   Name one good reason to turn that offer down.  What reason has he given for tuirning it down?

You are out of the loop?  Don't feel pregnant - lots and lots of people are out of the loop.  And as far as something that has gone on for a long time, you are SO RIGHT!  If you have lived here very long like we have you know what I am talking about.  If you haven't, then,  I am wondering why you have no issues with a mayor who turns down a legitimate offer WITHOUT EXPLANATION.

Metro Councilman Jon Ackerson has been nothing but totally receptive every line I have talked with him.  Front my view, he has done a lot for Bellemeade.

He has asked LMPD to monitor the speeders on North Chadwick numerous times(they did).  Keep in mind that North Chadwick Road is a Metro road that runs through Bellemeade.

He helped get approval on  a grant request from the Bellemeade Beautification Committe to the tune of several thousand dollars to replace the "goalpost trees" on Shelbyville Road. He or his administrative assistant was present at a number of Bellemeade City Commission meetings at various times to offer more assistance especially during the re-zoming of what is now Shelbyhurst.

He offered to get another speed hump put in on North Chadwick, but was turned down by somebody in out little city government.  I never could get the straight story on that.  Does anybody know?

He offered to have the speed humps on North Chadwick Road painted and once again was turned down by Mayor Odom-Groh.   I have in my possession email threads to verify that.  Mr. Ackerson sent them to me after I had complained about the speed humps needing paint.  I had seen several people nearly lose control of their vehicles when they hit the humps too hard because the paint on the speed humps had worn nearly off.

Is it true that he left a recent Bellemeade City Commission meeting feeling less than happy?

Just today, one Bellemeade resident told me that he felt like it won't be long before Jon A will stop coming to our "little meetings" and offering us money.  Can't say that I blame him.
