North Chadwick was a county road when Mooregate was built. It still is a Metro road and Metro does the snow removal and repaving. Metro was willing to do half of the speed humps and by their design and placement. I have been reading the regulations for speed humps. They must be 1200 feet between the crowns and 1200 feet between the intersection and the first hump. Louisville Metro Public Works made the final decision on placement and how many would fit on North Chadwick.

Mayor, This is Vicki Stearman and you are wrong.  Louisville Metro Public Works did make the final decision on placement of speed humps not how many were going to be installed.  I am telling you that Metro Louisville recommended six!  They only installed four because that is what the City of Bellemeade requested.

I am the one that went door to door to get the petition signed.  I am the one that contacted, then Commissioner, Julie Raque Adams 'office.  I am the one that first talked with Tammy Markert with City of Louisville Public Works.  I am the one of the many residents that went to the original meeting where SIX were presented to the City of Bellemeade.  Give it a rest mayor.  SIX were recommended!

1200 feet????  1200 feet????  That is four football feilds long!!!!!!!  Drive down Lyndon Lane in Hurstbourne and then tell me that theirs are 1200 feet apart.  Drive through that little city across from Crispy Kreme on Bardstown Road and tell me theirs are 1200 feet apart.  What is the name and number of the regulaion taht prescribes the 1200 foot distance/

Now, rather than continuing to argue who did what, let's fix the problem.  Put a speed hump on North Chadwick immediately north of the Southampton-Dorchester juncture near Shelbyville Road .  And put another one just south of the Southampton-North Chadwick-Dorchester juncture near Whipps Mill Road.  or  ..........................................

I found the email from Tammy Markert with Metro Louisville Public Works and Assets.  This was after the City of Bellemeade asked that the six speed humps be reduced to five then reduced to four.

FromTammy "I measured the four hump distances.  We can get four out there, it would slow the speeds down for a shorter section.  I think five really works out best for the length of the street.  Four humps would start around 212 N. Chadwick and end around 114 N. Chadwick - just not a longer section of speed reduction."

Mayor I am also contacting Tammy for the original map since I can't locate my copy.  Would you like me to send you a copy?  Vicki Stearman
