There was a tree down on a power line in the yard next door to me. (we are on the even side of Chadwick)  Because it is on private property, LG&E is not libel for the tree even though there was a wire down.  The homeowner finally was able to get the tree removed by a private tree service and the wire was repaired within minutes. This is the second power outage during which we were one of 5 or 6 houses without power for 48 hours plus. During the last outage, there was a tree limb on a wire on the easement at the back of my house and it took 3 days for them to get here after many calls to them.  The most frustrating part of the whole thing, besides once again losing all the food, is that there is no specific information to be obtained from the company about the problem and the possible solution.  Maybe we should forget about improving the ambience of the neighborhood and use our money to ensure that our power lines are not at risk; although short of burying the lines underground, I don't really have a solution except cutting down all the trees.

LG&E has had a long standing problem with old trees in our neighborhood. After loosing power for long lengths of time for several years I purchased a natural gas powered standby whole house generator and no longer loose everything in the freezer. It is worth the cost.

It would take losing a lot of food to make up for a $10,000 price for a natural gas generator.  I don't have that kind of money after having to remove 2 large trees on my property.  We have a gas powered generator, but with the price of gas being what it is, we only run it for short times. No offence, but I sometimes find it hard to believe how out of touch you are with the real world and the problems of real people who work hard for every dollar.

The price was three thousand and well worth it to us. Laughing
