The price was three thousand and well worth it to us. Laughing

I would love to know how long ago you had your generator installed.  Most of the posters are right about the $7000 price.  However, given that this kind of thing happens all the time in the 'ville, the plumbers who install these things have increased the prices dramatically.  We also had a few estimates for a simple gas line from the basement to the fireplace (about 10 feet total) and most hovered around $2000.  As you can see, the "times they are a changin".

I understand that no one wants to discuss the nightmare of actually doing something that would help the greatest number of people in a given situation, but our tax dollars should go for more than speed humps and landscaping.  It's time to get real.

We also got several (5) estimates on those natural gas powered generators and found that it would not be cheap to have the gas line extended and the electrical box re-worked.  We got estimates up to $12000.00 for a 23hwh and as low as $9900.

I agree somewhat about your thought about doing something different with our tax dollars othet than your stance against the speed humps  (I lost a son to another persons unsafe driving and nearly lost my wife right here in front of our house on North Chadwick because of a speeder - that is pretty real - hear me?).  And, by the way, I had arranged to get the speed humps paid for NOT using Bellemeade tax dollars and my offer was not even considered - I was told that the commissioners were opposed to corduroy streets.  I would think that not having a death on a Bellemeade street WOULD BE a benefit to all.  Don't you?

$7,000.00 for a 17KW generator installed, I would do the black gas pipe myself.
