Power Loss

Posted in: Bellemeade - Bellemeade

Where are these wires that trees keep falling on?  Does not LG&E have easement rights to keep them clear of the electrical lines?  Seems as though that would be a hailofalot less expensive than replacing downed lines and would allow customers to have electricity during crisis situations. Somebody told me that the squirrels also caused some of the outages.  Is that true?

By the way, I noticed a lot of trash in yards and on the street yesterday AFTER Rumpke picked up garbage. Is there a reason for that which is acceptable?

Mayor, why do you make yourself such a target?  Wonder what you did to upset that gentleman on Chadwick....

We also got several (5) estimates on those natural gas powered generators and found that it would not be cheap to have the gas line extended and the electrical box re-worked.  We got estimates up to $12000.00 for a 23hwh and as low as $9900.

I agree somewhat about your thought about doing something different with our tax dollars othet than your stance against the speed humps  (I lost a son to another persons unsafe driving and nearly lost my wife right here in front of our house on North Chadwick because of a speeder - that is pretty real - hear me?).  And, by the way, I had arranged to get the speed humps paid for NOT using Bellemeade tax dollars and my offer was not even considered - I was told that the commissioners were opposed to corduroy streets.  I would think that not having a death on a Bellemeade street WOULD BE a benefit to all.  Don't you?

I absolutely agree about the speed humps doing the job they were meant to do.  What I don't understand is this: if Chadwick is a metro road and metro takes care of resurfacing
and snow removal, then why don't they take care of the speed humps?  I'll admit that I know nothing at all about city politics and should probably not speak out about the problems, but some things just seem illogical on their surface.  Again, I'm very sorry for your loss and near loss and didn't mean to denigrate the pain you feel.

Metro should be. If Metro has grant money to plant trees on private property, then why do they not have money to take care of their own street?  I looked into this and found that one source in Metro was willing to put in another speed hump at the end near Shelbyville Road, but Larry turned down the offer because he said he could not get the Bellemeade City Commission to go along with it.  That came from a very reliable source.  Furthermore, reading some of the posts Larry makes, I am wondering if his "unconventional writing" and his helter skelter method of communication fails to get through to Metro.

mj, have you let Councilman Ackerson know your feelings?  Remember, the squeaky wheel gets the oil.

Also, I feel your pain about the expense of removing those trees.  Wonder if Larry with his wheeling and dealing could arrange for some kind of agreement with some tree companies that might lessen the cost in return for guaranteed business?  THat would be a great community service, especially in Tree City USA.

In my experience, LG&E will not do anything until it interferes with the line. I have a neighbor that called them about a tree that was actually touching the lines and they would not come out. He and I trimmed it ourselves.
